Practically Speaking Hebrew - Complete Program (Online Hebrew Course)

I really struggled to even recognize the sounds of Ivrit. Now every time I encounter Ivrit whether in song, liturgy, spending time with Yisraelim & Yisraeliyot, or in my own studies – it's a learning experience. I even am studying & writing about gematria now!

Shortly before I retired, I decided to learn Hebrew. I wasn't sure if an online course in English (my native language is German) would work. So I started with Inbal's three “Hebrew Reading & Writing” books. It worked surprisingly well—and was a lot of fun. A few weeks later, the textbooks were filled with my writing.
The decision to also learn to speak with Inbal’s help was a no-brainer. No sooner said than done. I’ve now worked through the online program and can use the materials to further deepen what I’ve learned. There’s still a lot to do, but I’ve laid a solid foundation. The name “Practically Speaking Hebrew” is spot on. I can highly recommend both programs—not to mention Inbal as a teacher.

I am very grateful that I came across Inbal and her teaching method. I studied biblical Hebrew many years ago at the University of Chicago’s Oriental Institute. My wish was always to be able to learn modern Hebrew as well. I started with her three book course and then purchased the Speaking Hebrew course. She is an excellent teacher and always available. You get out of her courses what you put into it. I highly recommend the investment in the course as it’s worth every penny.

I would thoroughly recommend the ‘Hebrew by Inbal’ course. I started my journey learning Hebrew almost 2 years ago and during that time I have paused my learning more than I have been studying the Hebrew language. But, I do intend to go back to it when the time is right, and that’s the good thing about this course - Inbal is on hand indefinitely, there is not closing date for completing the course. My personal journey learning Hebrew has had many setbacks due to various family health issues and also a tragic bereavement. I’m probably one of the best people to encourage you as I know what it’s like to feel it’s pointless trying. If you have the determination you will succeed- so what are you waiting for?

I've never taken a foreign language before.This one was very appealing, its a living and historic language over 3000 years. Its really nice you can pace yourself. With the Booklets, and Inbal's Online Course, its step by step, removes the doubt one may have. Inbal's video's, also demonstrate its not to late. Listen, play back the Online Courses if you want, and video's, there are jewels in every one. Challenging, yes, but rewarding. Shalom!

Amazing Hebrew teacher, worth every moment of this class.

I’m a super slow learner and it is not easy to build up vocabularies. English is not even my first language. BUT Inbal’s teaching approach encourages me to continue. I’m trying to use a simple sentence adding relevant elements to me, such as / ef ‘shar ka ‘feh e ‘khad/ then adding / eem har ‘beh kha ‘lav ve b ‘lee soo ‘kar/. Perhaps finishes with /be va ka ‘shah/ . Then I never forget some words like milk, sugar, with, without, please…. , and /e-‘khad/ is one in masculine form. Numbers are oh sooo challenging (LOL) but I would say studying Hebrew is my life-long project… Heaps of Toda rava, Inbal.

I started hebrew years back, alone at first then with real friends with real intentions to teach. There were setbacks. Time among others, for them but also for me. I'm not a quitter and because I have been navigating with a few other languages, I know how to get by.
But where I am and with what I'm doing, I need more than just getting by. I need to dive deep into the language because in Israel, we need to build bridges. And what I have learned about these people is their knack for relationships. I want to be able to meet them there, not just on the surface.
A really good friend gave out Inbal's link. She herself went through hebrew, having made alyah more than 30 years ago. She sent it to me in a really serious tone, "This is for you. Trust me, I wish I had her when I was learning hebrew". It didn't take me long to decide.
And here's the review : Inbal, she's a real teacher. She knows how to get you through it. She knows how to decipher the knots like she herself is in it. I'm still in the first course, but she has a gift of giving you already the panorama, at the same time, making you really go forward. She knows exactly where she is going. You just need to take the step. One at a time.

100% best learn to speak Hebrew course by far! I did an Ulpan course nearly 20yrs ago and have forgotten a lot but this is great! So much more user friendly! Toda raba Inbal! 💖

I highly recommend Inbal’s Practically Speaking Hebrew course, it was very comprehensive and the lessons were sized beautifully as to not overwhelm. I loved her teaching styles and the repetition of phrases and words helped to solidify the content. Inbal was very encouraging and the cheerleading from her sweat, sweat soul permeated the pages and made me feel more confident in my ability to succeed.

Right from the days of my youth, I have been wanting to learn Hebrew. At that time my motivations were not clear. There were no courses offered and the only way at that time was to enroll myself in a Hebrew school which was very few and far between in the country I grew up and so was not very practical. Remember I am talking about the days when Internet was not universally available.
Many years later, my motivations became clear and more serious, (I don't want to go into them now as it's a story for another day) and I looked around to discover ways in which I could start learning Hebrew. By then Duolingo and other language learning apps had made their appearance. Well, I tried a few of them and eventually gave up. I despaired of ever being able to learn that beautiful language. But as they say, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. In my case, Inbal appeared like magic. It was indeed a miracle. I was scrolling through Facebook (which I normally don't do) when I came across Inbal's website. Something about her voice which invited people to try her method of learning Hebrew intrigued and resonated with me. I tentatively purchased her first module. I was hooked from the very first lesson. She makes learning Hebrew so easy. You know there are notoriously difficult sounds like the R, KH etc in the Hebrew language which is so very difficult to get by English speakers. But with Inbal's tips I got them so easily. But she is so modest that she will claim that it is all the students' effort. But I say that without her tips and the patience with which Inbal teaches I would never have gotten those sounds right.
It goes without saying that I have since purchased her entire course and I am progressing very nicely in Hebrew. Thank you Inbal.

If you are considering deepening your commitment to Jews and Israel, I highly recommend following and buying her program. (Personally, I think this should be part of every Jewish program, not just the Bat/Bar Mitzvah phonetic Hebrew.)

I would encourage anyone to try this course especially those who like me, tried so many other methods and are ready to give up. I made Aliyah a few years ago and honestly I had more or less resigned myself to the fact that I would never learn this language and would be mute forever but you have turned that around. I have a long way to go but now I am confident I can do this!

The difference before taking this class and now is that I’m not afraid to speak Hebrew anymore. It has given me confidence to want to talk with my friends that are also learning Hebrew. I’ve started trying to make Hebrew sentences making myself use the language more in my everyday life.

I now have the confidence to speak in Hebrew and hone the conversation skills I learned from this course and to know I would be understood by other Hebrew speakers. I am more motivated to watch and listen to entertainment in Hebrew and try to pick out what I know. It exceed my expectations. As a former aviator who spent most of his working life training others, I immediately recognised the excellence of Inbal's teaching technique. Moreover, it was the perfect blend of practice and explanation of why we say it that way.

I am so so very happy I took the course!! I learned so much! I also found it didn’t take up too much of my time. It was great to learn the differences in the pronunciation of certain consonants in Hebrew versus those in English. That was so very helpful! I loved learning the colloquial ways to say things too! Complex things were also explained so carefully and step-by-step that they were way to understand!

If you want to learn Hebrew and learn it fast without having to struggle or work things out yourself, do Inbal’s course. It’s like learning to drive a car. You can sit in the car and press the buttons, put the seat belt on and rev the engine without putting it in first gear to feel comfortable, maybe even go up and down a driveway.. but as soon as you actually take it for a drive - especially with a driving instructor right next to you - your confidence improves dramatically.
